Transwest Helicopters Ltd. has been engaged in fire suppression operations with the Bell 214B in western Canada for over 15 years. The ability of the Bell 214B to operate in "hot and high" environments makes it ideally suited for fire suppresion operations.
Each of our helicopters are equipped with automated flight following (AFF) systems in order to meet Alberta PFFC wildfire operations specifications and the proposed British Columbia forest service requirements.
Our 214B's are also equipped with both a 2500 litre "Bambi Bucket" and a 2500 litre "Torrentula Bucket". Unlike the Bambi bucket, the Torrentula bucket is capable of variable volume pick ups and multiple drops. Transwest Helicopters is the first and only operator in North America to utilize the Torrentula bucket under the Bell 214B.
